The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management – Water Supply Program receives the Envision Silver Award

November 1, 2017

The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management – Water Supply Program is the recent recipient of the Envision Silver award for sustainable infrastructure. This project will increase the security of the city’s water supply by providing more than two billion gallons of water storage, increasing the minimum water supply for the city from less than one week to over 30 days. The water reservoir is being constructed at the site of a former quarry and will be connected to the existing Atlanta water treatment network and the Chattahoochee River through innovative trenches tunneling technology. The remaining quarry site is also being converted into publicly accessible parkland connecting Atlanta’s BeltLine park and trail system.
