ISI, McMaster University, and the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering Collaborate to Offer New Training Initiative

Envision® is now offered alongside the McMaster Certificate Program

We are excited to announce that the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure and the W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology at McMaster University, and the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE– Ontario Region) are collaborating on a new Sustainable Infrastructure training initiative.

A key benefit is that Envision® will be offered alongside the Sustainable Infrastructure: Design & Engineering course / program, which focuses on the emerging approach to infrastructure that considers both sustainability and climate resilience at every stage of design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the integrated systems. This is a great opportunity for learners to earn both an academic and the Envision professional credential at once.

This leading-edge training program is designed for participants who hold a degree or diploma from a recognized university or college or a relevant certificate in infrastructure or sustainability. Students in their final year of post-secondary studies may also be accepted. This course focuses on all aspects of sustainability including best practices in materials, energy, water management, waste management, stakeholder engagement, and regenerative design.

The three-day McMaster’s course which includes Envision training is being offered on the following dates:

    • January 19-21, 2022

Once participants complete the three-day course, they become eligible to take the Envision open-book exam. Upon passage of the exam, they will be awarded the ENV SP (Envision Sustainability Professional) credential, joining a network of six-thousand ENV SPs worldwide.

Course delivery will take place online and will feature many exciting and inspiring guest speakers who demonstrate how sustainability can be incorporated into all aspects of infrastructure.

Dr. Greg Zilberbrant is the program lead for the course.

Melissa Peneycad, ISI’s managing director, will be the Envision trainer.

The Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario helped fund the Sustainable Infrastructure Fall of 2021 / Winter 2022 courses. Subsidized rates are available for Ontario residents working in the public or private sector. The Canadian Society of Civil Engineering (CSCE) also played a role in making this collaboration possible.
